STATEMENT MAY 2016

No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it’s not the same river and he’s not the same man. Heraclitus

My work provides an opportunity to experience color liberated from pre-assigned
definitions, emptied out of all personality – color devoid of metaphor. Intense, raw modulation engages the viewer; color architecture, intricately woven with light, discloses a formal structure that delays perception and slows down time, allowing the viewer to focus on the moment before moving on to the next temporal element in the work.

STATEMENT MAY 1974

Anticipating an integral explanation of the existence of color as a form in itself to which we can all feel relative is the essential dissertation of color itself.

Color – not the pigment or carrier – but the ability it has to expand a sensory awareness, releases its ability to create a total environment in which one can generate climatic qualities or, rather, produce a resonance of space and time.

It is at once the cause and effect of vision which can induce its own light and therefore its own vibration such that no two visual experiences can be paralleled. To consider it fixed would destroy the personality of color.
